Tampere University (TAU) is a multidisciplinary, foundation-based university and Finland’s second-largest university with over 21 000 degree-students and close to 4000 staff members. TAU was created in 2019 through a merger between the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. TAU brings together research and education focusing on technology, health, and society.
TAU is the coordinator of VAX-TRUST as well as the leader of Work Packages 1, 8 and 9, and partner in all other Work Packages. TAU Team is experienced in studies of expertise, sociology of professions, health sociology, research on healthcare professionals, science and technology studies, and medical ethics.
Inside TAU, VAX-TRUST operates under the Faculty of Social Sciences, which is a vivid social scientific entity that unites health sociology and social sciences under the same faculty roof. To specify, VAX-TRUST is part of the Research Centre for Knowledge, Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (TaSTI) that is the largest research hub for science and technology studies in Finland, with about 30-40 researchers.
